Walmart Price Matching Black Friday & wrist bands!

Email this Post

Walmart’s Black Friday is really trying to mix things up.  In addition to their earlier Black Friday hours and staggered doorbusters, check out Walmart’s Press Release announcing they will be…

… one of the only retailers that will price match competitors’ ads on “Black Friday.” Customers simply bring in competitors’ ads and Walmart will match the price of any identical product right at the register, making Walmart the easiest place to save this holiday season.

Keep in mind it MUST BE THE EXACT SAME ITEM. So if you really plan on price matching, I would scope out the store ahead of time to make sure they carry the exact same item. You also need to be aware that they DO NOT price match out-of-stock-items. So if you run there because Target ran out of their doorbuster, they CAN refuse to price match (of course they would need to call and confirm they are out of stock).

Another update – a reader informed me that Walmart will be employing a wrist band system on Black Friday.  You have to get in line at midnight for a wrist band for which ever item you want. They will hand out wrist bands at 2 am and then you have to go back at 5 am for what ever item your wrist band is for.  So if you are headed to Walmart for the %am doorbusters – plan on spending the night.

thanks Cindy!

  1. This is crazy why does wal mart think they have to hand out wrist bands? This just makes it even harder for poeple to buy their Christmas… You put these things on sale for a reason do poeple really have time for all that nonsense. Most poeple have to get sitters just to go to the sale’s now they are going to need one all night because they will be spending the night at wal mart. If you think this is going to hepl make money they are going to lose it…

  2. So does this mean you just can’t walk into the store at 6am and get the Black Friday crockpot which is on sale for 9.77 unless you have a wrist band?!

    • JOY – this was from 2010… they do not do the wristbands anymore. The only “system” they will have this year is on the 1-hour guarantee items giving out tickets if they do not have enough in stores.
