Stop & Shop Peapod PICK UP

Many of you have already heard of Stop & Shop’s delivery service through Peapod.  There is a $6.95 – $9.95 delivery charge and $60 minimum order, so since I am frugal (actually CHEAP- LOL!) I never thought much of it other than for new mother’s, elderly or if you were ill and could not get to the store.

HOWEVER for a limited time you can get FREE delivery for the first 60 days using code FREEDELIVERY.  Must enter code one time in the promotional code box at checkout and $6.95 will be deducted from each order placed within 60 days of your first order.  Join Peapod NOW!

BUT did you know there is now FREE Stop & Shop PICK-UP  (thru Peapod) at over 200 locations across 5 states – MA, CT, RI, NJ, and NY!

Pick-Up service is free for a limited time for current customers, and free for 60 days for new customers.

Stop-&-Shop-Pick-Up

All 3 of my local stores offer it… do yours?

  • No fee for next-day pick-up, no minimum order size!
  • Drive-thru convenience — pull up and we’ll load your groceries in 5 minutes.
  • 1-hour windows, 7 days a week.
  • Plus earn Gas Rewards points – for your overall order.

The other day I was lucky enough to meet with Peapod and Stop & Shop to find out more and ask all those questions.  I was also able to try out the PICK UP for myself.

Yes, those are my groceries being loaded right into the back of my van.  I must say I LOVED IT!  Perfect for when you have to send the hubs or your teenagers to the store.  EVEN better you can keep those sleeping kids or crazy toddlers all strapped in and not drag them all through the store.  Perfect for SUMMER when everyone is home.

arrowCan you use coupons?   YES!

Place all your coupons in a sealed envelope with your name or order number and give them to the PICK-UP attendant (or driver for delivery).  They will overnight them to corporate who will process them and credit your account.  Hopefully BEFORE your order hits your credit card, but if not you will see a separate credit.

Assuming you linked in your Stop & Shop card to your Peapod account you should be able to get credit for SavingStar.  I have to find out more about whether we can upload Peapod receipt for Ibotta – but Checkout 51 should be fine I think.

SAVE $20 on your FIRST $60+ Peapod PICK-UP or DELIVERY using code JULY42014 – through 7/31/14

arrowDo you get Gas Rewards?   YES and NO

Again, make sure you register your Stop & Shop card with your Peapod account and you will earn Gas Rewards for your total purchase.  HOWEVER they currently have no way to award the BONUS Gas Rewards for purchasing certain items – I STRONGLY encouraged they rectify that ASAP – LOL!

Even if you still want the Gas Reward deals, run in and buy ONLY those – easy peasy and then pick up the rest out front!

arrowAre the sale prices the same as in store?   YES and NO

For the most part, the sale prices and specials will be same or similar to your stores flyer.  The products are not actually pulled from your local store – they are gathered in a “wareroom” that supplies many stores in the region.  Since prices can change depending on the store location, sometimes you will get the price that is the most prevalent in your “area”.

Sale prices are valid in your cart for 7 days.  The NEW sale cycle is available for order on Wednesday since you can get NEXT DAY pick-up and the new sale starts Thursday.  That means you can actually place your order on Tuesday with the current flyer (schedule for Thurs pick-up) and then ADD new sale items on Wednesday to that order.  You can get reminders when the FINAL CUTOFF time is for your order.

arrowCan you get PRODUCE, MEAT and FROZEN foods?   YES

Your order is pulled RIGHT BEFORE your pick-up time and stored in bins that have ice packs or whatever is needed to keep your order fresh.  I ordered meat and produce and was pleased with the look of both.  Produce is prices per piece, not per pound.  If you like to pick your own produce – head into the store for those few things and pick up the rest out front.

arrowCan I pick-up anytime I want?   YES and NO

Each store has different PICK-UP times available based on staffing, but for the most part you choose a 1 hour window when it is convenient to drop by the store.

Screen Shot 2014-06-26 at 2.16.24 PM

Sometimes there are even discounts for certain times – there was a $1 savings for my store from 10-11am this Sat and Sun.  You find discounts on DELIVERY as well when they are trying to consolidate delivery orders in your area.

HOW TO SHOP

Shopping is actually easy.  You can choose to look at WEEKLY SPECIALS only or browse the aisles.  Once you have a few orders in there you can also look at YOUR Specials which are things you have ordered in the past and are now on sale.

They also have the NutriFilter feature where you can choose items that fit into your custom health plan or use their ready to go plans ~ Gluten-FREE, Egg-FREE, Dairy-FREE, Peanut-FREE, Weight Watchers and more.

So my opinion is that even though you cannot get the BONUS Gas Reward items…YET, PICK-UP is a super convenient way to get your groceries when you do not have time to stroll through the store.

The convenience factor alone is worth it for many people.  HATE that grocery shopping the day you return from vacation?  Order everything online and pick them up on the way home.  Need I say more?

Would you give Stop & Shop Pick-Up a try?

  4. With all 5 home for the summer, I’d love to just drive up and get groceries! No bringing the kids in the store plus a huge time saver!

  5. My boyfriend and I are just starting out in our first apartment, this would be such a huge help to us! Thanks Lynn.

WOW! Now that all 4 kids are home for the summer I thought I’d never get to shop at S&S! So excited that they will accept coupons and credit your card — this may be my only way to shop there!!! YIPPEE!!! #oncloud9

I’d be willing to give it a try – I like that it seems super convenient and time saving!

  13. I have tried Peapod for pick up and I like it also. It’s easy to keep my grocery list on the mobile app and add to it as needed. I like the idea about adding items from 2 different sales weeks. New users should note that although they have a wide selection, they do not carry every item that is at your Stop and Shop. So if you need something specific they don’t have, you’ll have to run into the store.

  14. Donna K says:

I don’t think I would have ever considered it until I read your write up about Peapod! Thanks for all of the info…..going to give it a try this summer :)

  15. Nikki Jacques says:

You can’t use the bonus coupons in the flyer either and I noticed when 12 packs are on sale they are not on sale through peapod.

  16. Harmony B says:

Would love to try it. Going to the store with 4 kids is impossible

  19. Colleen P says:

I haven’t tried it, but the pick-up is definitely a plus. I think it would be worth a try as I usually shop with 3 kids in tow.

  20. Colleen P says:
  21. I like how convenient it is and how much time I will save being able to choose my items at home and then quickly dropping by to pick them up.
