Looks like SuperValu is selling Shaw’s as well as Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, and Acme (877 supermarkets) to a group led by Cerberus Capital Management. This is the same group that took a portion of the Albertsons LLC stores previously.
There is no information yet whether they will keep all the brands operating and just downsize or what. We will have to wait and see what it all means.
The sale is due to be complete by the end of the first calendar quarter.
