I know I am LATE reporting this, but still wanted to ONLY if you are desperate for toilet paper. This is one of those – OMG what a great deal… BUT IS IT REALLY???
Walgreens has JULY register reward deal that ENDS TODAY 7/31/11 – Buy 2 Cottonelle, get $3.50 or buy 4+, get $4.50. In addition they are on sale for $5 and there is a $1/1 Cottonelle Walgreens August coupon book. Here are the available mfg coupons:
- $1/1 Cottonelle Bath Tissue 7/17/2011 SS Insert (exp 8/28/2011) – regional
- $0.75/1 Cottonelle Bath Tissue 7/17/2011 SS Insert (exp 8/28/2011)
- $0.50/1 Cottonelle Toilet Paper
So here is the deal I did:
2 Cottonelle 12pk $10
- $2 using $1/1 Walgreens Cottonelle coupon
- $2 using (2) $1/1 Cottonelle coupons
final = $6, get $3.50 RR = $2.50 = $1.25 each
Now who would not think that is a HOT DEAL?? It is if you need TP or if you have a hard time finding TP deals OR if you must have Cottonelle or any other fluffy brand TP. My family is very happy using Scott or Marcal 1000 sheet rolls (frankly – they are much better for the kids clogging toilets situation
)
In determining if a toilet paper deal is good, you need to compare apples to apples. This is similar to what you need to do with diapers as well. The Scott & Marcal rolls have 1000 single ply sheets and go for $0.80 – $1.25 per roll. These Cottonelle 12pks are rolls with 148 single sheets – you heard me… 148 sheets. That roll will not last a day in my house. So here is the math:
148 sheets x 24 rolls = 3,552 sheets = equivalent to 3 1/2 (1000 sheet) rolls
So I paid $2.50, or $3 if you only had the $0.75 coupons for 3 1/2 rolls that I would have paid $2.80 – $4.38 with no coupons. So what do you think?
Stay tuned, I will be posting all if the Walgreens deals…
