Walgreens scenarios 9/27 $11 profit!

by Lynn on September 25, 2009

What if I told you that Walgreens is so nuts next week that you could get 13 items for under $2 out of pocket and be left with $12.50 RR. Here is a SUPER Newbie scenario. If the store is slow you can do them all at once, or break them up over 2 days. I only included FREE things. You can certainly use your profits to get other items that are super cheap this week.
Remember, Walgreens considers the RR as manufacturer coupons and you are only allowed 1 mfg coupon per item. Therefore when you have coupons for all your items and want to pay with RR, you need to add in filler items. I am using seed packets on clearance for $0.08 for my filler items. Change calculations accordingly for other filler items.
I am also trying to assume you only have 1 of each newspaper coupon and only 1 computer (so 2 of each printable). I also assume you do not have the All You magazine. If you have more coupons, you can keep going and going and going…
Walgreens does not always have all the products, so I would suggest seeing what they have and use this as a guide on how to get the products. I always go with my list, but BE PREPARED to modify. I have also not verified all of these yet, so let us know how it works out!
transaction 1:
2 Theraflu Nighttime 6ct 2/$8
- $4 using $2 Theraflu from Healthy Savings coupon book
- $4 using 2 -$2 theraflu
total – ZERO (maybe tax) and get $4 RR
(confirmed working… I did get the packets vs. liquid as that was on the Walgreens coupon)
I am not sure if the RR will print if total is ZERO so add in a filler to be safe!!
transaction 2:
Herbal Essences Hair Care $2.99
Oral-B Advantage 123 toothbrush $3
small filler item (I like the seed packets for $0.08, but check clearance…)
total = $6.07
- $1 herbal essence 8/23 or 9/13 RP
- $0.75 oral-B 9/27 PG
final = $4.32, pay with $4 Theraflu RR = $0.32 oop (out of pocket) get $2RR & $3 RR
(Oral B RR IS NOT PRINTING!! Need to have manager print for you – mine used a chapstick to get one to print – same $$)
transaction 3:
Gillette Fusion MVP manual or power System $8.99
2 small filler items (again, seeds are perfect)
total = $8.99 + filler = $9.15
- $4 Gillette Fusion 9/27 PG
final = $5.15, pay with $2 Herbal Essence RR and $3 Oral B RR = $0.15 oop (out of pocket), get $6 RR
(reader brought up good point about using P&G RR to pay for P&G – this is sometimes an issue & the new RR will not print. I had NO ISSUE doing this transaction – note I used the chapstick RR the manager printed when my Oral B did not print. BUT the Herbal Essence P&G RR did not cause any issues with the Gillette printing out!!)
transaction 4:
Dentek floss or picks $2
Vaseline Sheer Fusion Lotion $6.99
small filler
total = $8.99 + filler = $9.07
final = $6.57, pay with $6 Gillette RR = $0.57 oop (out of pocket), get $2 RR & $7 RR
transaction 5:
Chapstick fresh Effects $2.99
Emergen-C immune System 2pk $3.49
Halls Refresh Sugar Free $1
Robitussin DM to Go $2.49
total = $9.97
- $0.75 Halls 9/27 PG
final = $9.22, pay with $2 Dentek RR & $7 Vaseline RR = $0.22 oop, get $3 RR, $3.50 RR, $1 RR, $2.50 RR
transaction 6: (to use the 2nd printables you have)
Vaseline Sheer Infusion $6.99
Dentek floss $2
2 small fillers
total = $8.99 + fillers = $9.15
final = $6.65, pay with $3 Chapstick RR & $3.50 Emergen C RR = $0.15 oop (out of pocket), get $7 RR & $2 RR
After all of this, you should have 13 items plus 5 filler items and paid $1.41 oop (out of pocket) (using the $.08 seed packets) and you will have $12.50 RR left over. That is a $11 profit!

What if I did not listen and threw away all my past inserts/coupons and only have printable ones, what can I do?

transaction 1:
2 Theraflu Nighttime 6ct 2/$8
- $4 using $2 Theraflu from Healthy Savings coupon book (should be able to find at store front)
- $4 using 2 -$2 theraflu
total – ZERO (maybe tax) and get $4 RR

transaction 2:
oral B toothbrush $3
Halls $1
pay with $4 Theraflu RR and get $3 RR & $1 RR

transaction 3:
Chapstick $2.99
Denteck $2
filler item $0.08
total = $5.07
-$1 DenTek Floss Picks
final = $4.07, pay with $3 OralB RR & $1 Halls RR= $0.07 oop (out of pocket) and get $3RR & $2 RR

transaction 4:
Vaseline $6.99
2 filler items $.16
total = $7.15
-$1.50 Vaseline Sheer Infusion and here and here
final = $5.65, pay with $3 Chapstick RR, $2 Denteck RR = $0.65 oop (out of pocket) and get $7 RR

transaction 5:
Emergen C shots $3.49
Robitussin $2.49
Denteck $2
filler because 2 cents short to use RR
total = $8.06
-$1 DenTek Floss Picks
final = $7.06, pay with $7 Vaseline RR = $0.06 oop (out of pocket) and get $3.50RR, $2.50RR & $2 RR

If you can still find filler items:
transaction 6:
Vaseline $6.99
2 filler items $0.16
total = $7.15
-$1.50 Vaseline Sheer Infusion and here and here
final = $5.65, pay with $3.50 Emergen RR, $2 Denteck RR = $0.15 oop and get $7 RR

So for just under a $1 oop (out-of-pocket) you get 11 items and are left with $9.50 RR to use!
